Hi everyone,

I have a share named Movies which uses disk3, disk4 and disk5.

The structure on this share is as follows:

Movies (Level 0)

    |

DVD (Level 1) (Directory, will be on disk 3, 4 or 5)

    |  |

    |  DVD-Title (level 2)(Directory, can be on disk 3, 4 or 5)

    |              |

    |              VIDEO_TS (Level 3) (Directory on DVD, must remain on disk where DVD-Title resides)

    |              |          |______Files on DVD

    |              |

    |              AUDIO_TS (Level 3) (Directory on DVD, must remain on disk where DVD-Title resides)

    |                          |______Files on DVD

    |

    MKV

        |

        MKV-Title

                    MKV-file

My question is: How should I set the split-level so that the directories and files on a DVD-title stay grouped together on the same disk (3,4 or 5), should it be 2,3 or 4?

Also are the levels I wrote down in the comments correct?

1 is the lowest level you want to split. Choose 1.

Did you look in the wiki:

I think the split level should be set to 2, which will keep all of the files together for a given movie title, but still allow the DVD and MKV directories to be created as needed on any given drive.

Also are the levels I wrote down in the comments correct?

No, the levels you indicated need to be incremented by one as show below. Perhaps this is why dgaschk and I disagree on what split level you should apply.

Movies (Level 1)

    |

DVD (Level 2) (Directory, will be on disk 3, 4 or 5)

    |  |

    |  DVD-Title (level 3)(Directory, can be on disk 3, 4 or 5)

    |                          |______Files on DVD

Thanks all you three. After reading the manual Joe L. pointed me to, I for now agree with ohlwiler and set the split-level to 2. Sorry dgaschk  :).

All agree? I still find it a bit confusing though :-[. Hope I make right decision.

Either use 2 or 0. If you use 0, you have to go to each disk and manually create the Movies directory and the DVD, MKV etc subdirectories.
