SYSTEMBOARD WITH S5 WOL NOT COMING ALL WAY UP

Featured Replies

I CAN SEND 'MAGIC PACKET' TO MAC AND MY COMPUTER TURNS ON, BUT THATS ALL IT DOES. WHEN I LOOK AT THE SCREEN ITS JUST AT A BLINKING CURSOR ON A BLACK SCREEN. I HAVE TO PRESS CTRL+ALT+DEL FOR IT TO DO A FULL BOOT OR PRESS SWITCH AND POWER DOWN. WHY WON'T IT BOOT ALL THE WAY? ???? AND THATS ALL I HAVE FOR WOL. JUST S5.

THANKS

Please, don't scream (caps).

I do have a similar issue.

MB : ASUS M3A76-CM

CPU : AMD Athlon II X4 620

MEM : G.Skill PK Series 4 Go (2x 2Go) DDR2 800 MHz

under 4.5.6 : WOL works perfectly from S3 and S5

under 4.7 : WOL works from S3 but NOT from S5

It's seeams like 4.7 disconnect the ethernet when going to S5.

(doing S5 from webgui/telnet/keyboard/pushing the power button/unMenu/...)

syslog says

Nov  2 15:46:38 Tower kernel: ACPI Error (psargs-0359): [ECEN] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND (Minor Issues)

Nov  2 15:46:38 Tower kernel: ACPI Error: Region PCI_Config(2) has no handler (20090903/exfldio-295) (Errors)

I dont recall seeing those lines under 4.5.6.

So something in the newer kernel (not unRAID specifically) broke the S5 implementation on your motherboard.  Nothing really that Lime-Tech can do about that.  It might also be that the S5 implementation on your motherboard does not meet spec so it was "broken" in the newest kernel

It seems when i put 'full boot' on in bios instead of quick boot it turns all the way on sometimes. Other times it will just sit there still @ that black screen with a blinking cursor. huh.
