October 31, 201114 yr Please help! I'm completely baffled by this one. I'm an UnRaid/Unix newbie, but I work in Software and I consider myself pretty technically adept. The UnRaid server I'm using I built from the ground up and it's been running perfectly for the last 6 months. Until tonight that is... I took the memory card from my camera, placed into my MacBook Pro 15 and *moved* all the .jpg files at once to my UnRaid server share. The move appeared to succeed just fine. However, upon further inspection I noticed that there were many pictures missing from the server. I went back to my SD card and it was empty. The files were moved off the SD card and somehow got lost in transfer before making it to my UnRaid share. What's even stranger is that the pictures seem to disappear randomly. You can tell by looking at the numerical sequencing of the photos on the server and finding pockets of missed numbers. Since some of the pix were taken only minutes before I moved them to the server, I was able to easily verify that photos were indeed randomly misplaced and nowhere to be found. WTF? I would love to get help on the following if possible: 1. Can I get the files back somehow? Buffer on the UnRaid side perhaps?? 2. What the hell happened/went wrong here? 3. How do I avoid this happening in the future? I appreciate any insights you can provide. Thank you, Lance syslog-2011-10-30.zip
