2XS
Hello, I am toying with the idea of replacing my old Big Tower with an enclosure for my rack with hot swappable hard drives. How sensitive is Unraid to the hot swap distribution boards in such enclosures? Are there any restrictions as with the PCIe RAID cards? I had to replace my old card with an LSI SAS2008-8I. Apart from the very loud fans, is there anything else I should look out for in such enclosures? Best regards, Andi Quote Link to comment
trurl
RAID controllers are NOT recommended for many reasons. No point in hot swapping assigned disks since Unraid won't do anything with the new disk until you stop the array and assign it. 1 Quote Link to comment
Opawesome
You can see my hardware config in my signature below. It has been running well with Unraid for 4-5 years now. This 4U Logic Case SC-4316S case uses standard ATX power supplies, and I replaced the fans with Noctua fans to reduce the noise level even further.
