3tb drives and 5.0-beta13 stability

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am finally ready to jump into and build my first unraid box. I have been following the forums for a while now.

now that 5.0 beta has been out a while with upgrades now to  5.0-beta13, how does everyone feel about 3tb drive usage as well as the overall stability of  5.0-beta13? Should I run with  5.0-beta13 or stick with 4.7?

thanks

John

Same question here :-)

I have been stockpiling HD and other staff to build my first server

but not sure what  version to use once I have all the parts.

so far:

3 Hitachi 2TB HD are on the shelfs

2 USB drives on order

10 various SATA cables on order

1 old full tower case is on the bench awaiting  customization (some paint here and there, new HD racks  etk.)

still shopping for

MB

projected

-- ASUS M5A97 EVO Socket AM3+ 970 ATX AMD  $119.99

OR

-- Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 Socket AM3 890FX  -- $124.99

CPU  -- AMD PHENOM II X4 840 Boxed Processor HDX840WFGMBOX -- 59.99

PSU --  PC Power & Cooling Silencer 760 Watt ATX -- 89.99

I'm currently testing 5.0 beta 12 with 3 x 3TB Hitachi drives with no problems so far (up around 10 days).

Avoid unRAID 5.0 beta 13 if you have any sort of LSI controller.

by LSI you mean SATA port expander  right ?

by LSI you mean SATA port expander  right ?

It's an alternative to the Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 8-Port card, and there some discussion on the different models in this thread.

I use a Supermicro LSI2008-based SATA card, but no 3TB drives yet.

I am sticking with 5.0beta11 at the moment, which is running perfectly well.  I did upgrade to beta12/12a, but reverted when I discovered that nfs is broken in that version.  Reports suggest that the nfs problem is not yet fixed in beta13.
