After reading up on unRAID for a while, I'm getting close to taking the plunge and setting something up.  The P5B-VM DO seems to be very popular, but after looking around I can't find any vendors that still sell it.

 

Does anyone know of an online retailer that still offers it? Are the any other recommendations for an equivalent?  Failing that, I guess it's time for a long research session.

I can recommend the GA-EP35-DS3R

 

It is a newer board. I am stress testing it over night. I can let you know in the morning how well its doing.

 

I have not tested the LAN, I am using a PCI-E Intel Pro 1000 NIC. Its much better than any onboard NIC you will find on any mobo.

So are there any other boards that have know good gigE ports, microATX from factor and can support 8 Sata 2 drives around $100???

 

I was actually ready to order the P5B-VM DO and like the OP I can't find it anywhere other than ebay and I'd rather not take my chances..

I'm in the same boat as you guys  I am wanting to upgrade my unRAID server to a new MOBO+CPU to take advantage of SATA speeds...

How are the dynamic energy saver features?

It's the one feature that is making me consider it.

Have you tested it with a kill-a-watt to see if it is effective?

I was pretty pumped about the energy saving feature. When I started installing the board I didn't see any bios settings. Unfortunately its a feautre that runs with software in Windows  :'(

Besides that little disapointment the board has been wonderful. All 8 sata ports work out of the box and the thing is stable as can be.
