[SOLVED] Added 4 new disks, no new free space on existing shares.

Featured Replies

I completed adding 4 new 2TB drives. Once formatted the shares still report the same free space as before. I left the included disks fields blank so it should use all of the drives.

What am I missing?

If i am not mistaken, while using SMB via windows as a client at least, your share will not tally in the new drive space into the share until the share has touched those drive.

if your share is "Media", add a folder to each drive "Media". (\\tower\disk20 for example)

then stop and restart the array...

because "media" in this example only exists on X number of drives, that is the total number of drives/space it counts. Once you expand it to "X+(new dives)" it will update X and reflect all drives.

I took it offline and restarted it. Once it was back up, all available space was showing up. BTW, the new drives were removed from a Drobo.
