Logitech Media Server 7.7.0 -> Upgrade to version 7.7.1

Featured Replies

Hi,

I did some modification on Tom's slimserver plg

Now it using latest Logitech Media Server 7.7.0

But perhaps it needs some final touch, new png icon, perhaps new location instead of slimserver ;-) feel free to continue change the plg

I don't take any responsibility if this damage your server, FYI: it's up and running on my server  ;D

//Peter

EDIT

Now version 7.7.1

I needed to install on new folder on my cache, couldn't upgrade current folder for 7.7.0

EDIT 2

PLG file updated, bug found.

great! how do i update my current install of 7.6 ?

???

Thanks for this, I will hopefully get a chance to try it out this week.

  • 2 weeks later...

If anyone can help me to install this it would be great. After reading a bit in the plg file and on the forums I realised this file needed to go in /boot/config/plugins so I put it there and rebooted thinking it would install, it didn't :) Then I tried to manually install with installplg I think; Thank finished with "plugin sucessfully installed" but there were tons of error messages about a tarball for logitchmediaserver not being found. I had the 7.7.1 tarball, renamed that and pût it were it was looking and tried again. Got less errors but still had a few:

/bin/bash /tmp/slimserver-install ... mv: cannot stat `logitechmediaserver-7.7.0-33614': No such file or directory

rm: cannot remove `/usr/local/slimserver/Bin/arm-linux': No such file or directory

rm: cannot remove `/usr/local/slimserver/Bin/darwin': No such file or directory

rm: cannot remove `/usr/local/slimserver/Bin/i386-freebsd-64int': No such file or directory

rm: cannot remove `/usr/local/slimserver/Bin/powerpc-linux': No such file or directory

chown: cannot access `/usr/local/slimserver': No such file or directory

success

file /var/log/plugins/slimsever: already exists

plugin successfully installed

Still says successfully installed but I'm pretty sure it isn't... So, can someone give me a hint on the proper way to install this add-on? I really did try looking around the forums and googling but nothing gave me clear instructions. Thanks.

PS: just rebooted and saw this in syslog:

Yet I still can't access the web interface... Do I need to modify the config files?

  • 5 weeks later...

Peter,

Got similar issue to olssy above.

The plug-in didn't work for me initially and during an installplg it contained an error;

/bin/bash /tmp/slimserver-install ... tar: /boot/config/plugins/slimserver/logitechmediaserver-7.7.1.tgz: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
mv: cannot stat `logitechmediaserver-7.7.1-33735': No such file or directory

There seems to be a discrepency between the filename used for download and tar extract command;

logitechmediaserver-7.7.1.plg

Line 85 =

<FILE Name="/boot/config/plugins/slimserver/logitechmediaserver-7.7.1.plg">

Line 372 =

tar -xf /boot/config/plugins/slimserver/logitechmediaserver-7.7.1.tgz

Changed line 85 to end .tgz, re-ran sucessfully.

Regards,

RJ

Then you should be fine, follow the instruction in the post I linked to.

Just installed in fact, its VERY simple, why not put this on top of the page

1.Download the zip file

2.Extract the zip file

3.Go to your unraid flash device

4.Go to "\config"

5. Make a directory "plugins"

6.Go into c:\config\plugins

7.Put the extracted file in here

8.Reboot unraid

9.Start array (if its not already)

10.Under settings you find "slimserver"

11.Enable it

One thing though

What's the install directory for?

What will it contain?

The page from Tom says:

You also have the opportunity to choose a persistent directory to use for install so that your music database doesn't have to be rebuilt every time you reboot.  There is documentation in the plugin file itself (soon to be on the wiki).

What does persistent mean?

So this directory will only contain the database? On what disk should i place this?

now it says: /usr/local/slimserver

Does it have to be under a share?

Please read the link i provided, I have not build this plg file by my self, it's Tom's "projekt", what I did was just to point to a never version, that's it, so all credit goes to Tom.

Im running the sb server version 7.7.0 with beta 14

Everything works fine till i turn of unraid and the squeezebox.

Say when i want to start it all up the next day, the sb cant find anymore albums although everything is running

I have to redo the whole library thing then.... and again chose the maps and stuff where my music is..

how come?

install directory is /usr/local/slimserver

although i dont know where that is? is it on my flash?

that's Ram

everything other then

/boot

/mnt

is ram an will be deleted at reboot

so or you install it on the cache drive

or on a disk in your array

or on boot which is your flashdrive

Use a disk in the array (/mnt/disk1 for example).

Cool its working. Learned again. This is such a great forum!
