March 6, 20242 yr I recently moved to a new server with no problems but then when I upgraded to 6.12.6 and I went from perfectly stable to having daily crashes anywhere from 2 to 12 hours after rebooting. I cant connect to the system, a connected display is black but the computer remains on. I've dug through tons of threads and tried several things to fix but am not getting anywhere. System is: i5 12600k asrock z690 extreme motherboard 2x8gb 3000mhz patriot ram (used for 3 years without incident in previous server) No other PCI cards or devices I'm running 10 dockers, no VMs, So far I have: Set docker to IPVLAN updated all containers Ran memtest for 24 hours, no errors heres is 2 syslogs that were running when the system crashed. (set to mirrored to flash, syslog was on for both crashes) I'm at a loss, what else should I try? syslog syslog-previous Edited March 6, 20242 yr by admiralroflknife fix a gramar mistake
March 6, 20242 yr Community Expert Unfortunately there's nothing relevant logged, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker containers/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one.
March 10, 20242 yr Author I tried a few more things and then ended up setting it to self test. It yet again crashed even in safe mode. However I did have it adding a second parity drive while in safe mode (I've been trying to add the other drives I've ordered during this ordeal). I'm really at a loss, Im guessing it has to be hardware as you said. I ordered some new ram just as a shot in the dark as its the cheapest troubleshooting next step I can do. But I wanted to ask if there is any value in doing a whole new unraid install instead. I migrated my USB stick over to this server from my old one with very different hardware and I'm wondering if maybe this all could be a config issue somewhere.
