are long filenames not supported?

I set up my machine the other day, so I'm currently transferring files from Windows, but the transfer is failing for many files.
All these had in common that they had long names in Japanese and Chinese.
I was able to use it on Windows, but is there no other way than to shorten the file name in order to transfer it to unraid? (Attempts to rename after transfer also failed.)

This is not a real thing, but an example of what is available on Windows and not on unraid.
