[SOLVED] Best way to copy Unraid files onto external USB NTFS drive?

Featured Replies

I have an external 2tb USB NTFS drive that I want to fill from my unraid server.

Attaching to my PC and copying that way is going to take 16 hours, as it is copying at 28 mb/s

Can I plug the external drive into my unraid server and do the copy somehow?  Will it be faster?

SNAP is how you would do it.

As for it being faster ... doubt it since I betting the bottleneck is the USB connection.  On a gbit network you should be able to stream data much faster than 28mb/s, but your USB is maxing out and that won't change plugging it into the unraid box.  at lesat not enough to matter.

i will second the use of SNAP.

I will also second that the USB is the bottleneck. The USB plugged into the windows client will not slow down performance very much.

If you are more comfortable with that method, just stick with it.
