I building a new UNRAID. I got the software to boot (I think). One line I got was initializing all devices DO NOT REBOOT...

Then after a few moments I get 1 line Bash-2.05b# What does this mean?

thanks for any clues! ??? ???

unRAID version 4.3 uses bash version 3.1.17.  I don't think you were successful installing unRAID on your flash.

I'm having a network/config issue still, I'll do the command ifconfig and get address 127.0.0.1. I can ping it from my XP desktop, buit was told it was pinging itself, I cannot get the tower to show up in the IE on the XP desktop or Vista laptop. I have never delt with linux before.

I'm using a Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H MB. At first I tried the OB LAN, then tried a NIC card 10/100 I had laying around. With the MB LAN I got IP adress 127.0.0.0, with the NIC card I got IP address 127.0.0.1.

thanks for any suggestions.

Could you show us the entire ifconfig report?  And/or could you capture a syslog and attach it?

Here's what I get when I do a ifconfig.

Link ecap: Local Loopback

inet addr: 127.0.0.1 Mask: 255.0.0.0

UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU: 16436 Metric: 1

RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 Frame:0

TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0

collosions:0 txquellen:0

RX bytes:0 (0.0 b)  TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)

Your networking is clearly not working.  I don't think it found a NIC.  What does your syslog indicate when it tries to initialize the Realtek RTL8110?  Search the syslog for lines with eth0.  Are you sure your LAN chip is enabled in the BIOS?

I noticed your board has an ATI SB600 southbridge chipset, which may not be supported yet, although I'm not sure of that.

how do I get to syslog? I did a LS and don't see that command.

bear with me please!! I went into the bios and set "ENGAGED ON LAN BOOT ROM" I did see new line during boot-up. a realtec ethernet controler does come up during boot, and list a MAC addr. I reset agian and went into BIos and did a "Smart Lan"

After that command I got "LINK DETECTED 100MB  CABLE 12M"

After all that I still get the same info when I do IFCONFIG, and no connection with "TOWER"

I going to try another NIC card and see what happens.

:'( :'(

You don't want the 'LAN BOOT ROM' enabled.  Usually on an Advanced tab in the BIOS, there will be an entry for chipsets, and on it will be an Enable/Disable toggle for the onboard LAN chipset.  If you add a NIC to your server, then you want to Disable the onboard LAN chipset.

how do I get to syslog? I did a LS and don't see that command.

To obtain a copy of your current syslog, at the unRAID console or in a Telnet session, type the command:

  cp  /var/log/syslog  /boot

This will make a copy of the system log in the root directory of your flash drive, which you can either copy directly from the flash share of your server, or plug the flash drive into your PC and access the syslog there.  Any file manager such as Windows Explorer can access the file across the network.  For example, if your unRAID server name is Tower, then you can access your newly created syslog as \\Tower\flash\syslog.  I recommend renaming it with the date and time and the .txt extension, for example syslog2007-08-28-1630.txt.

thanks for the idea. But I'm giving up with a download UNRAID software. Knowing what luck I have with new computers or other tech stuff, last Saturday (3/15) I ordered the preconfig key from Lime. If this don't work I'm ging to find the biggest gun and shoot this thing.

thanks for your help and I hope  won't have to ask again.
