ethernet capped at 100mb when I have 1gb fiber; runs full speed on windows; tried new NIC and same issue

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I have an Unraid build I didn't realize was running slowly on ethernet capped at 100 for some reason until I started downloading large files. I have 1gb fiber. Everything else on my network tests at 940ish. This same computer running windows tests at full speed too. But, when running Unraid, the ethernet is capped at 100. I checked BIOS settings and couldn't find anything that would trigger the cap. I bought a new 2.5GB i226-v card and same issue. I tried the new card in another computer and tests at full speed. Is there a setting somewhere I'm unaware of?

I did try new cables as well and multiple ports on switch and router. Same ones work full speed when on Windows on same hardware so I'm thinking it's a setting somewhere.

Thanks!

downloading large files

what do you mean by this?  Transferring from another system to the server, or downloading something via SabNZBD?

Downloading from SabNZBD is how I noticed it. But, if I run a speed test it shows 98-100mbps max

Sorry, I meant on Unraid the connection speed shows as 100 mbps b and the downloads don’t go above 10.8 MBps on Sabnzbd. But the same computer when using windows will get 10 X that

I tried completely restarting everything, restoring Unraid, going to default settings, and the problem persists.

I was seriously banging my head on the wall trying everything I could think of swapping cables, using cables from other computers that I knew had a full speed connection. I reset the router, and that didn't work. Lastly, I reset the switch and that did it... Hallelujah! Thanks anyway for the help. Hope this helps someone else in a similar situation.
