I carry 9 in my acquisition kit. 7 are various boot disk images, with different acquisition utilities for different scenarios of hardware and software. One is for other non-booting utils, and the last is 64GB for storing live memory dumps (such as are needed for recovering TrueCrypt and other encryption keys).
November 16, 201114 yr Come on, do you really need 3 USB flash drives today? Another yes for me. I have 1 that is a 1-to-1 copy of my MacBook Pro internal HDD that is backed up about every 2 weeks, I have another that is an image of my MacBook Pro after a fresh OS X install (just in case I want to restore to a pre-app cluttered state). I have one more that has various important things on it like photos, school docs, work items, and general stuff that I would severely miss should my computer be down for a long(ish) period of time.
November 16, 201114 yr for me it is this simple (because of the price) if i could have ordered more i probably would have and given them as christmas gifts. who doesn't need a 32GB flash drive? 1) replace my 256mb flash in my unRaid server 2) my new dodge ram truck accepts usb drives to store music 3) general transfer of files between work and home
