I can't transfer files to the shares

Featured Replies

I am running 6.12.8. I have lot of space. I tried using a win11 and win10 machine. Neither will work, I get the same error. The server has been working fine for at least 5 years. Included is a pic of the error and latest diags. Can  anyone help?

What is the share name you are transferring to?

I am transferring to "video" and also "video 2". Thank you for responding!

Mar 17 16:51:02 Tower smbd[29090]:   streams_xattr_pwrite: Write to xattr [user.DosStream.Timing.Info:$DATA] on file [NYG GB.ts] exceeds maximum supported extended attribute size. Depending on filesystem type and operating system (OS) specifics, this value may be increased using the value of the parameter: smbd max xattr size = <bytes>. Consult OS and filesystem manpages prior to increasing this limit.

Not sure the max XFS supports, maybe @dlandonknows.

I looked at your Diagnostics and made the following observations:

  • The "video" share exists on all your disks.
  • The minimum free space on this share is Zero bytes.  It should be set much larger than the largest file you expect to be written to this share!
  •
  • The "video2" share exists only on disk9
  • The minimum free space for this share is approximately 1TB.

Notice that disk9 is common to both of these disks.  Check its status as to its free space.  I would also set the 'Minimum free space' setting to more reasonable value for both shares.  The setting is found here:

Currently Unraid's value is 'smbd max xattr size = 65536'.

You can try setting this value higher in the smb-extras, but I don't think this is your problem.

smbd max xattr size = <new value>

I think @Frank1940 may have the answer - see above.

I have found that only .ts video files won't transfer .mp4 files of any size will transfer. So I convert all .ts files to mp4 and all goes well. I'm sorry for the late reply, my wife has been sick.
