Unraid Crashes With Big File Transfers

Featured Replies

Every time I try to back up my Unraid server to my Synology, after a couple of hours, it will stop transferring and lock up Docker. Most of the containers will still work, but I won't be able to stop any of them, and I have to do a hard shutdown. When this happens, it usually locks up 2 cores on my processor. I have tried a new motherboard, RAM, CPU with no luck. I have also replaced my HBA card and put a fan on it, thinking maybe the card is overheating. I have tried using multiple different apps as well, such as Double Commander, Krusader, MC, FreeFileSync. It doesn't matter which program I use; it still happens. I've completed memory tests with no errors, turned off XMP, disabled E cores with no luck. It doesn't seem to crash unless I go to back up the server and start doing big file transfers. I have attached my syslog; please let me know if there's anything else I can attach to help diagnose.

Syslog covers a lot of days and shows several issues, including NFS timeouts, segfaults and even an OOM error, some may no longer be relevant, if you've been experimenting, start a new log and post that one after it happens again, also try for example rsync over SSH to see if the same thing still happens.

Using r-sync works, only when I use unassigned devices plugin and mount my other nas will it lock up file transfer. So I guess the answer is only use r-sync for big data transfers.
