Strange Error message...

Featured Replies

After many days without a hitch, I came home and realized my unRAID server was down.  I pushed my KVM button and found the following error message facing me:

Tower login: [1015007.415553] Kernel panic - not syncing: out of memory and no illable processes [1015007.415916]

I had to power cycle the unit, but it came right back up and started a disk sync.

Any idea what might have caused this?

Bill

This was the only thread that seemed to be relevant:  http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=1078.0

Were you able to see any more info than the kernel panic message?

If you can search for the files with the most recent file modification dates, that *might* provide a clue as to the last operation involving unRAID.

RobJ,

Thanks for the link.  It looks like exactly the same problem, although I haven't implemented user shares (not yet, at least) and am running an older code baseline (4.0-beta10).  Hopefully, like Lanstrom, it will turn out to be a one-time event.

Unfortunately, the error message I copied into my previous note was all I got...the system was locked up solid.

I haven't added any files to the system in a while, but my wife may have been backing up her files to one of the drives (very small files, btw).
