PeteAron Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 I just got home with my new server parts. I need more storage, so I am upgrading my hardware. I am just building a new server, using a supermicro c7p67/G620 setup. The board was $120 at microcenter, has two pci x16 slots, and 6 sata ports. should be good for up to 22 drives. I am going to run a separate copy of unraid free to preclear the drives before putting my existing frankenserver (a dell xps610) into the box. Any comments on the board?
Johnm Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 It has dual Realtek 8111E's. I would stick to 5beta13 and newer as many people have had issues with other releases of unraid and those NIC's.
PeteAron Posted November 23, 2011 Author Posted November 23, 2011 I cant seem to run a memtest with this board - it hangs. I have tried two different sets of two 2gb sticks, and the exact same thing happens - looks like the test is preparing to start, and it just hangs. I would appreciate any advice anyone can give me.
Johnm Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 No problem... this is common with the newer lga1155 boards. I ran into this months ago with my supermicro. see here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=12822.msg134094#msg134094 hopefully this will get resolved with the 5.0 final. you can also do this in windows by using 7zip and mapping to \\tower\flash or plugging the flash in your desktop.. or you can do it in a console/telnet screen
