March 29, 20242 yr Very much an Unraid noob, just FYI 🙂  After a BIOS upgrade, my working Unraid server just won't start properly. I sometimes got it to boot into the command line, where I could actually log in with root (but it was not accessible on the LAN). But sometimes (and now seemingly all the time), just a black screen after the POST screen and nothing more.  I upgraded to latest version of Unraid before the BIOS update, worked perfectly. I've run CHKDSK in Windows on the flash drive which says everything's ok. The flash drive itself seems fine, it's recognised and I can access files et.c in Windows. I have a fresh flash backup - restore or anything else I should try first? Are there BIOS settings that I should be checking...? The BIOS flash wiped everything from earlier of course... (Z690 board with i5-12500) Any assistance much appreciated - I was so close to having the damn thing "finished" and now...
March 29, 20242 yr Community Expert Read these:  https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/getting-started/manual-install-method/ Check with your BIOS to see what option you MB will allow you to use. (Most modern MB want UEFI) Step 8 is the one you are concerned with.  Once that is resolved, you must set up the BIOS so that it boots first from your boot Flash Drive. Take your time as many MB BIOS have boot options in two or three different locations in the menu system. Make sure you have a copy of the MB manual handy as it reading it may be necessary. IF you got a printed copy of the manual in the box with the MB, I would still go to the website as the printed manual is often truncated to save printing costs.  Â
