Is my brand new 6tb WD Red bad?

Featured Replies

I recently purchased 3 6tb WD Red Plus drives. I've added them to the array and am moving data with unbalanced from my old drives to the new ones with the intention of shrinking the array to just these 3. Two of the disks are working fine but disk 9 keeps throwing disk read errors as soon as I try to move anything to it. It passed an extended SMART test. Any ideas?

Were they all pre-cleared?

I didn't run pre-clear, I know Unraid cleared the disks before they were added to the array, my assumption was that was good enough. Do you recommend UD preclear?

Preclear is one option to stresstest a disk but is not mandatory.

@TheSnuke, it seems to pass the Extended test, but still has a lot of errors.

That's not good, in your place I would have the disk replaced or reimbursed by the seller.
