April 2, 20242 yr Periodically my unraid server becomes unreachable. The device is still powered on but otherwise it is non functional. Even connecting a monitor does not display anything at all when in this state. Only a hard reboot by holding the power button will fix the issue for some time. I cannot find a pattern to when this happens. I did enable the log to be saved to the flash drive before the most recent episode of this issue. This morning my server was fine, but sometime today it went brain dead. Can someone help me figure out the issue? Logs attached vault-diagnostics-20240401-2046.zip
April 2, 20242 yr Community Expert Unfortunately there's nothing relevant logged, this usually points to a hardware issue, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker containers/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one.
April 2, 20242 yr Author If it is a hardware issue, is it most likely to be a RAM problem? That is what I would guess since I know the OS runs in RAM and if all of a sudden there was no space then I could see the OS crashing. Thank you for reviewing my issue and logs.
April 3, 20242 yr Community Expert It can be, if you have more than one stick of RAM try at least two different ones on their own, can will basically rule out a RAM issue.
