I was moving some folders around in my server and it was really slow. So I shut down the Parity drive and they move really fast no problems. Is that the norm or is there something wrong that I am unaware of.

    It is normal for writes to be slower when simultaneously writing parity, but without objective numbers and your system configuration there's no way to tell if you have a problem.
