SMB or NFS

Featured Replies

I will soon have to copy a huge amount of data from one of my NAS boxes to the unRaid server. When mounting the SMB share on the NAS the transfer rates were really bad (about 7MB/s). I checked the forums and found some solutions but none of these worked for me. Since there is also the possibility to export as NFS:

- will this most likely be faster for me?

- do I have to be careful about file permissions and ownership when copying via an NFS mount, or will unRaid fix this if I fail?

thanks!

Markus

The answer to question one is that NFS is generally faster.

Can't help with number two though.
