Dual Lan set up?

Featured Replies

When I built my unraid server I used a Gigabyte board that had dual gigabit lan. I currently just have it hooked up to a gigabit switch. My main computer that I have in close proximity is connected to the same gigbit switch. Most of the data written to my unraid server is done through this computer. I average about 35mb write speeds to the unraid server. If my main computer has a dual gigbit nic is there any benefit to running a Ethernet connection from my computer's second nic to the unraid servers second nic?

If so how do you set up the connection?

No you won't benefit from any improvement by setting a link aggregation. Considering the speed you got, you're probably limited by your array, not by your network.

Thanks. I was afraid you were going to say that. lol  Guess it will be good to have NIC back up in case of failure then. Appreciate ya.

I would think that that read speeds you can benefit from this. Writing speeds, no.
