dsf Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Have a machine that is limited to (2) 14TB HDs, 2 Nvme SSDs (1 TB each) and 64GB of memory with AMD Ryzen 7 5700U. I have used TrueNAS in the past, and it mirrored the (2) HDs out of the box. Unraid doesn't so here for suggestions. The current plan is to have one HD for media and the second HD for parity, with two SSDs for cache / appdata. any better suggestions? Quote
_cjd_ Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 ASM1166 m.2 to SATA adapter for 6 more SATA ports? Unless you have 10g network plain sata SSD cache is adequate, but this setup would let you mirror that and also have room for more spinners. Unless the case is the limit... New case? Quote
foo_fighter Posted April 15, 2024 Posted April 15, 2024 (edited) Single Parity is a Mirror, but you can also use a ZFS Pool of 2 devices and assign 1 throw away device to the array using a usb flash drive. Then you get scrub/bit-rot protection. Edited April 15, 2024 by foo_fighter Quote
