Beta vs. 4.7

Featured Replies

I currently have a box set up, using FreeNAS, pretty small with (2) 1TB drives.  I am running out of storage on it, and was considering giving unRAID a shot.

I like the simplicity of adding, and replacing drives unRAID provides.  I am not afraid of linux, but I am certainly a newb as far as that goes.  I am looking for the simplest way for me to get started (gui?) and was wondering if that might make me a candidate for using one of the betas, as it sounds like a bunch of gui work has been done for unRAID 5.

Any major pros or cons that might steer my decision of 4.7 or 5 beta?  And if the suggestion is 5 beta, which version?  (not seeing 5beta6a available for download)

The equipment I have grabbed to start my new unRAID system is as follows:

Coolermaster 692 Case

Asrock 880GM-LE

AMD Athlon X2 250

1 Stick Corsair 1333mhz 4GB ram

Corsair cx430 builder series v2

2- 2TB Western Digital EARS drives

Thanks

Mike

I'm using the latest beta at home (5b 14), haven't had dealbreaker problems yet. Have done a couple of hard drive replacements, all went all.

It appears unraid 5 is nearing its beta cycle, so you'll see a final release soon. May as well start on the latest beta imo!
