newjerseymountain Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 TLDR: I had to reset my plex password, and since then haven't been able to properly claim my server. It worked on some devices for a few days but then stopped. I've reinstalled Plex completely and still not able to claim. Tried in the unraid console "ping -c5 plex.tv" and it said 100% packet loss. Did the same with google.com and it was successful. This is potentially the most relevant issue, see below for a summary of the whole process I've been through for more details if desired: I built an unraid server a few months ago and was running Plex in a Docker container. I had everything installed without issue and it was running fine using the linuxserver docker container. About a week ago I had to reset my Plex password, and then had to login to my devices again and reclaim my server. I can’t remember exactly if this was happening at first but it seemed like I was having issues claiming the server it or accessing certain setting, but managed to get it working on my android devices (Nvidia shield and android phone). After a few days though, this stopped working. I also tried accessing my server through desktop browser and it said I did not have access or not authorized or something similar. This occurred for a few hours and then it just stopped showing my server altogether on my account. I was able to open the WebUI to the server and see the libraries are there but the server said it was unclaimed. I would try to claim it by pressing the gray “Claim Now” button and it would load for a few seconds but nothing would happen, the claim now button was still there. I have tried many suggestions from the web. I’ve removed entries from the preferences.xml, I’m completely removed the plex appdata folder and reinstalled the docker container, I’ve tried a different docker container (Binhex-plex), I’ve tried to get a claim code from plex.tv/claim but it will not show a claim code. I could see a box and when I refresh the page it would say getting claim for a split second but was just empty. I tried getting a claim code on 3 different browsers (Firefox, Brave, Edge) and 3 different devices (Laptop, Desktop, Android) to no avail. At one point I read that the time on my server could be wrong, which it actually was so I corrected the time in unraid, but have since restarted unraid multiple times and reinstalled plex dockers multiple times and still have the issues. It’s also been multiple days ongoing. I’m kind of at a loss. I’ve tried looking at the logs and see some http errors and a line mentioning a token. I’ve attached a few of the latest logs. I've also already posted to plex forums but have not received any replies so I'm trying here. Another very strange issue that may or may not be related, is I cannot login to forums.plex.tv on multiple devices in my home. I can access and login to plex.tv, but when I press "login" on forums.plex.tv I get a security warning and firefox shows SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN. I've tried Firefox, Edge, and Brave and this happens on both my laptop and android phone. I'm only able to login on my desktop computer. This isn't when I actually try to login but when I press the "login" button it just won't even load the login page to enter my credentials (I've also tried clearing browser cookies, cache, data, etc). Finally I opened up the terminal in the unraid GUI and tried typing "ping google.com and it works fine, but when i try plex.tv it does not go through. I'm not sure what could possibly be going on. This has been going on for days trying to figure this out. Please any help would be greatly appreciated. Plex Media Server.log Plex Tuner Service.log Plex Crash Uploader.log Quote
Gragorg Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 If you login to plex.tv website can you select a movie? If so Hit the "..." and select "get info". In the bottom left corner of the window hit "View XML". Take a look in the address bar of your browser and the the token should be at the end. You can copy this for your docker template. Quote

I was able to do this but there doesn't appear to be a token in the address bar. "http://192.168.50.172:32400/library/metadata/11186?checkFiles=1&includeAllConcerts=1&includeBandwidths=1&includeChapters=1&includeChildren=1&includeConcerts=1&includeExtras=1&includeFields=1&includeGeolocation=1&includeLoudnessRamps=1&includeMarkers=1&includeOnDeck=1&includePopularLeaves=1&includePreferences=1&includeRelated=1&includeRelatedCount=1&includeReviews=1&includeStations=1" I am signed into plex when i connect to the server address, but the server can't be claimed still. Gragorg Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Did you login to https://www.plex.tv/ or your local ip webgui for your server? Quote
newjerseymountain Posted April 14, 2024 Author Posted April 14, 2024 (edited) Mmmhh so I wasn't sure and just cleared browser cache and data, opened up the Plex web gui and then signed in. It's behaving a bit strange. I was able to login but at the top corner it doesn't show my profile image, instead a grey circle, and when I press the dropdown it says "sign in" at the bottom instead of "sign out", but if I select "Account Settings" it opens up my account information just fine like I am logged in. I then closed out of everything and tried the reverse, sign into plex.tv first then opened the plex web gui and was already signed in, but this time does show my profile image and says "Sign Out" correctly. Still do not see a token at the end of the URL when viewing xml with either method. Could it be an issue with unraid since it can't ping Plex.tv? I'm not sure what if anything changed because it was working fine before the password change, and in fact other users could access the plex server even when I couldn't until I reinstalled the plex docker. Now it seems to not be able to reach plex.tv at least that's my guess at this point. Edited April 14, 2024 by newjerseymountain Quote
