Help !!! Red ball Error

Featured Replies

I am new to Unraid. Been running for a year + and today noticed a Red Ball next to one of my drivers. Not sure what to do next. Attached is a copy of syslog. I am running Unraid 4.6. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Thanks

I think something is wrong with that file I posted prior. Attached another syslog

Generate a smart report of the offending drive.

If the smart report does not indicate any errors, then you can rebuild the drive on to itself. I like to reseat the power and SATA cable too. Sometimes I will just replace the SATA cable if it can be done without disturbing other cables. If the drive continues to have problems, then it should be replaced with a spare. See this Joe L. post for more info:

Thank you.  I actually doing just that. Smart report had zero errors. I reseated the sata and rebuilding now. Now if I get a red ball again and smart report clean, can the issue still be the drive?  I should have replaced the sata so if red ball happens after rebuild that will be my next move bit questions what other components can be an issue?  Thanks
