March 21, 200818 yr Alright, this new version of unRAID that addresses the Realtek NIC performance issue has FORCED me to buy the LG BR/HD-DVD for my HTPC! I will now be ripping HD content and wanting to stream it from unRAID to my HTPC. So obviously, I now need to get my unRAID server to gigE (only 10/100 on-board). From reading the boards, I've focused on PCI-e solutions, but I also want to get this done as cheap as possible. I found the Rosewill RC-411 PCI Express NIC at NewEgg for $20 shipped. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166019 One of the pics shows the close-up with "RTL8111B" silkscreened, which I assume is a RealTek chip. I don't wanna waste even $20 if it won't do the job. I also don't want to drop $40+ on an Intel NIC if I don't have to. In fact, I would probably choose to purchase the Abit AB9 Pro ($60AR) with DUAL GigE at that point. I currently use the NetGear FS116 switch (need small thin solution for my in-wall structured-wiring compartment), which has worked well for me. Unfortunately, the NetGear GS116 16-port Gig switch is triple the price of the GS108 ($45AR), so I'm stuck with the 8-port for now. Thoughts? Suggestions?
August 1, 200916 yr Good performance on v4.3 using Rosewill RC-411 GigE NIC? What are you trying to say??? Sorry,,, but I can't get your point. Be careful answering this post. My apologies to Lovebee if they are a real person, but posts that contain a fake signature with a product link make me nervous. I suspect this is forum spam.
