Hi,

I want to create a NAS for video streaming and wanted to know if you can verify or better my current build:

Athlon II x2 Dual Core 255 3.1Ghz Socket AM3 Box

Asus M5A78L-M LX AM3+, 760G, DDR3 1333, VGA, ATI HD3000, PCI-E

DDR3 1333Mhz 2x4GB G.Skill

Fractal Design ARC Mid-Tower Atx Black Case (No PSU)

SeaSonic 430W 80+ Bronze Active PFC 12cm Fan S12II-430 (Retail)

SanDisk Cruzer Fit 4GB

if some part is incompatible, not recommended or if you have a better suggestion, please tell me since it is my first attempt ever.

Thanks,

If the motherboard comes with a built in graphics card, personally "I" wouldn't waste money on the ATI card. You also don't say how many HDD's u r thinking bout using. Try to think about exandabilty in the future as well. Speaking in terms of SATA controllers on the MB of course.

looks good to me, but keep in mind that this MB has a "Realtek RTL8111E"  network chip set

which is not compatible with any build below 5.0

so either you will need to get a different network card and disable onboard network

or use a beta build.

don't know what your needs are and /or budget constraints

but as this board have only 1 PCI-e > 4 slot

you might be stuck with 14 drives at most

also your PSU is multi-rail which is not that good for unRaid as I have found out

can be used, but highly discouraged ( 8);D)

for the same price or better you can get a single rail (check out my signature for details my PSU is still on sale @ Microcenter for $99.00 and after MFG rebate should be like $79.99)

maybe some one can chime in on the FlashDrive...

PS> you can checkout mu build here http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=16653.msg152572#msg152572

~~ $300 sans the Hard drives

the ATI is onboard and not in addition to the MOBO so i guess that is ok.

I will be using this server only for home use so i guess currently even 6 HDDs are more than enough for me in the near future.

any idea when build 5.0 is supposed to be released? how stable are the current beta builds? i really don't want to disable the onboard network card.

how about the following PSU:

CX 500W Active PFC 12cm Fan

the CX 500W Active PFC 12cm Fan looks OK.

I do not know when we will have a stable 5.0 build, maybe someone form limetech will shed some light on this.

but i am running 5.0b13 for almost 2 weeks  now and it looks OK so far
