c3 Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I got a Norco 4224 with 4 fans in the middle and 2 USB ports up front. I am not concerned about noise, since this will not be in living space. But I do wish to monitor fan health. All of the fans are 2 wired to molex connector. I am using the X9SCM-F so there are 4 available fan connections on the motherboard. Any good options? I am not opposed to switching to 120mm, but it seems Norco switched from 80mm to 120mm and then back again.
dgaschk Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 You'll need 3 or 4 wire fans to connect to the MB headers.
c3 Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 I am good with replacing the fans with PWM like tornado. Currently the Norco has 6 fans, so just swapping them to 3 pin fans will not be a complete solution. Also replacing the (4) 80mm mid fans with (3) 120mm fans, I am down to 5, but still a connector short. Last option might be to mod the case to a single rear fan, not sure how that would really work.
c3 Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 You could just leave a small one on. Does not provide fan health monitoring.
