Abit AB9 PRO Working with 4.3?

Featured Replies

BTW, after getting everything working on the unRAID server, I removed the graphics card because I borrowed it from a friend and will need to return it. Then I moved the server to my basement near the router and switches. I connected it without graphics card, monitor (obviously) and keyboard.

I couldn't get it to show up on the network. So I had to re-install the graphics card, monitor and keyboard to see why it wasn't working. With those devices connected it worked fine. Then I just disconnected the monitor and keyboard. I'm assuming that the machine might not boot without a graphics card. Or, it could be the keyboard. I'll have to go into the bios and check the 'Halt On' settings. Does anyone know what the default is? Maybe it is "All Errors", which would mean it is stopping without the keyboard.

Mine wouldn't boot without a graphics card.  Let me know if it works differently for you though, as I really don't want to have to order another card if I don't have to (this one is on loan from my Media PC).

I have a cheap PCI video card in mine, when I pull it out my server won't boot. Put it back in it boots up fine. So I just run it without monitor and keyboard. If you do a search on the web there are some good sites that tell you how to update the bios from a flash drive. When I was running the AB9 Pro, I updated it with a flash drive and it wasn't to bad. Check your transfer speeds after the parity check is done and post back if you still have a problem.

I'm currently copying some files from DVD-R discs to the server and the transfer rate is ~ 9 - 10 MB/sec. Parity check is not running. This transfer rate might be slow because I am reading directly from the DVD drive instead of a hard drive. Or, is around 10 MB/sec pretty typical?

Previously, when I tried a transfer from hard drive to server, it would start out pretty well (40 MB/sec), but by the time it finished, the transfer slowed down to around 8.5 MB/sec. These were folders with around 7 GB of data (DVD rips).

The default is to halt on all errors, if you have not changed that you will need to go into the bios and change it.
