mani Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Hi Everyone Is it possible to add same files in two different shares without writing them twice on the hard drives ? For example I want to add some movies (ISO) in " Movies" share and also want to make a separate share for HD movies and have the HD movies available in both " Movies" share and also in "HD"share. I would like to do it without using twice the disk space? How can it be achieved? I need to do above because of my multiroom setup and integration into control4 system besides being able to configure some of my other setups. Thanks Mani
dgaschk Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 The second share can contain soft links (or hard links depending on disk location) to the replicated files. Depending on your environment you may have fewer issues using Windows shortcuts. The process can be automated by a script that searches for files above a certain size and then creates a link in the HD directory for each of those files.
