Can't get Mover to offload from Cache to Array

Featured Replies

I'm a reasonably new UnRaid user. I'm just about to move my initial array to a new PC build, and one of the things I will need to do is leave behind the NVME storage as it isn't mine. I've had the opportunity though to use a board with 4 NVME slots, so I'm planning to make a 4x1TB ZFS pool (RAIDZ).

However, before I do that I'll obviously need to move the data that's on the current cache NVME on to the array. I've set all shares to CACHE>ARRAY and tried invoking the Mover process, but all that occurs is a webpage refresh and not much else. I've also tried using the 'Move Now' button from inside the Mover Tuning plugin settings on each share, but while the button stays greyed out nothing seems to happen there either.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I can't seem to figure it out.

Mover Tuning plugin

Try it without that plugin installed

Also, set appdata, domains, and system shares to Primary:cache-nvme; Secondary:none. You don't really want these moved to the array. And after you get room on cache-nvme you will want to move them to cache-nvme.

Your appdata, domains, and system shares have files on the array. Ideally, these shares would have all files on cache or other fast pool, so Dockers/VMs will perform better, and so array disks can spin down since these files are always open.

These shares should be set to Primary: cache; Secondary: array; Mover action: array->cache.

Nothing can move open files, so you have to disable Docker and VM Manager in Settings first. Then run Mover, wait for it to complete, and post new diagnostics.

And, looks like you have some generated settings for Minimum Free on each of your user shares, and these are probably too large. Set Minimum Free for each of your user shares to larger than the largest file you expect to write to the share.

Also, set Minimum Free for cache-nvme larger than the largest fill you expect to write to cache-nvme.
