Sn3akyP3t3 Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 First off, I paid for 2 pro licenses because there was a deal on getting 2 vice just 1. I haven't found a use for my 2nd license. Please, no offers to buy. I have no interest in selling it. When I moved last October I had some months pass due to the amount of activities going on with my life I lost touch with my computers. Eventually I had time and a need to get file access so I set up my hardware. I got the point of needing to plug in the Unraid USB and my brain went blank. I have two licenses on different USB keys. I worried about making the wrong choice and causing irreversible file damage or some other structural changes that would consume weeks to recover from. It turns out I picked the wrong one the first time and was horrified when my user shares were not visible from the web interface. I shut down and tried the other USB key. I was happy to see my user shares once again, but I didn't notice that the allowed users field as well as all other fields were blank. I found this out later when granting a family member to the media share to view photos. It seems that by plugging in my Unraid unmodified default USB key caused a loss of my user share control fields. I'm curious how this could happen. I though the user share information is stored on the USB key and not on the HDDs. If that is true then how could this have happened? I have data on my disks and don't want to risk any potential problems, otherwise I'd try to assist investigating this.
Sn3akyP3t3 Posted December 20, 2011 Author Posted December 20, 2011 Both Spinrite and CHKDSK inform me the USB key filesystem is not corrupted or damaged in any way.
