unRAID with Plex Docker and Ubuntu Desktop VM, where should I download to ?

Featured Replies

Here's my setup:

  • N100M with 500GB NVME on the pool cache and 3TB HDD on the array
  • Plex Server running (transcode path to /tmp so it goes to RAM)
  • Ubuntu Desktop running on a VM (so I can remote desktop and download files)

My issue is, how can I download my files through the Ubuntu Desktop VM (to which I'll connect remotly) so they are "picked up" by Plex ? Should I creante a network mount for my "media" share on unRAID ? isn't that slow ?

My ideal goal would be to:

  1. Download files with Ubuntu Desktop VM to the unRAID pool cache share
  2. Plex would  pick up that file
  3. During the night move the file to the array
  4. Plex would update the file path

How can I do this ?

I though if I would do the configuration below when setting up Ubuntu Desktop VM it would show a drive connected to my plex media share but I don't have anything (attched image).
