Server randomly shuts itself off

Featured Replies

I have no idea what is going on here, but my server will just randomly shut itself off without anything of note happening (at least that I am aware of). I will often wake up in the morning and go to check the server and it won't be accessible, but the server machine itself is still on. If I manually reboot my machine via the power button it generally stars up fine and I can begin using it again.

Not sure if diagnostics will help here, but this just happened again and I got the diagnostics after I manually rebooted.

The syslog in the diagnostics is the RAM copy and only shows what happened since the reboot.   It could be worth enabling the syslog server to get a log that survives a reboot so we can see what happened prior to the reboot. The mirror to flash option is the easiest to set up, but if you are worried about excessive wear on the flash drive you can put your server’s address into the Remote Server field.

Hi there, this hadn't happened for quite a long time but it randomly happened again last night. Posting my log file from the previous 2 days.july.log

There's no shutdown command logged, suggesting the server just power off on its own, that is usually always a hardware issue, also seeing btrfs detecting data corruption, so suggest running memtest.
