Re-Purposing Secure-Erased Synology Drives

Featured Replies

I've successfully integrated 2 HDD into my array that I previously used in my Synology NAS.   The drives were erased using "secure erase" (big mistake) and now every time if reboot my Unraid system I have to enter the secure password for the drives in my BIOS to get the server to boot.  I did not "pre-clear" the 2 drives before formatting them in Unraid.

If I start over and use pre-clear will that eliminate the problem of requiring the password at reboot?

No, but you should be able to remove the drive password from within your BIOS.

Assuming when you say you have to add it "at boot" you mean at the BIOS level.

There is an option to "clear keys" for secure boot.  I'll have to dig in and see if that is how I elimiate it

That's something completely different. Should be in the storage section, but unfortunately every BIOS is different
