GonnaDoThis
Setting up a new NAS which will use Unraid 6.12.10. Two of the SATA ports are fastest, the rest are half as fast. Obviously I will use one of the fast ports for my cache SSD. I have a parity drive and a variety of 2-5TB drives remaining. Does it matter which of those drives is attached via the other fast SATA port? Gut instinct says that the parity drive would be the choice, although I'm guessing that it doesn't make nearly the difference that the first fast SATA connection (to cache drive) would make. Is it optimal to use the 2nd fast connection for the parity drive? Quote Link to comment
Solution itimpi Posted May 13 Solution Share Posted May 13 It is unlikely to make any discernible difference as I am sure even the slower SATA port will have much higher throughput than any HDD can support. Quote Link to comment
