hi i just added a couple of nvme as a pool for my  cache drive and also have a single nvme that i am going to set up for downloads, so can i ask where the following should be cache or array ?

There is no "right" answer to your question - you need to make a decision at the individual share level and based on your use of each share.  You normally want on a pool the items where performance is the most important factor.

 

Typically 'appdata' and 'system' are completely on a pool for performance reasons , but then you need a plugin like "appdata backup" to make sure you back it up elsewhere.

 

Where the 'downloads' share goes depends on your usage pattern and your workload.  However you need to be aware of the Caution in this section of the online documentation accessible via the Manual link at the bottom of the Unraid GUI.  In addition every forum page has a DOCS link at the top and a Documentation link at the bottom.
