Sudden crashing of the server

Featured Replies

Hi all,

since last night my server has crashed and upon restart, it'll crash (it won't show up on the network at all) within 30 mins of booting up.

While rebooting, several times the boot drive wouldn't be recognised, screen connected to the tower showing 'reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key'

I thought it was the USB boot drive so I swapped it with a new one but still crashed.

The only reason why I can see is that CPU is pinned at 100% usage for a while (due to Immich running facial recognition job) and it's been doing that for couple of days.

Weird thing is, it's done that before for 3 or 4 days straight and never crashed before. I've stopped Immich docker and still crashed.

I thought maybe it's the GPU but that doesn't make sense since I should still be able to use the dockers (Plex, Immich, etc.) but I can't.

I've switched over from macvlan to ipvlan, but that was after knowing about the crash so that can't be it either.

I wonder if my motherboard's giving up the ghost?

I've attached my diagnostic and hopefully someone more knowledgeable can tell what's going on.

Thank you, I'll try it out when I get home.

I'm sure I did take these steps when I first built the system and has been working fine for the past couple of years.

Would it make sense if the crash was related to continued use of 100% CPU utilization for days? After all, Immich facial recognition was utilising the CPU at 100% for 3 or 4 days straight.

It can be, look for the support thread for that container and see if it can be fixed.
