camflan Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Trying desperately to get all my data onto unRAID, but it's been sooooooo slow. Transfer bursts to a speed between 25 and 65MB/s and then idles for several seconds and then bursts back up and then idles. I'm averaging between 4 and 8 MB/s over long file transfers. All other machines can transfer between them at 70+MB/s without fail. Here is a screenshot showing this, I was transferring 80GB of HD mkv files. It took 3 hours. Here: http://db.tt/Z2OLJRlO you will find a screenshot of /proc/interrupts, my syslog and a zip file of my system profile Is this a problem with the NIC on the unRAID motherboard?
camflan Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 Anyone? This is over AFP, if that matters. Seems to be the same on SMB as well. Spikes to 35-50 MB/s, but idles for 15-45 seconds between bursts of activity. Oh, and reads are fast, 110+ MB/s fast.
dgaschk Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 The syslog indicates an unclean shutdown. How are you shutting down?
camflan Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 I have only ever shutdown using the webGUI. It looks like it might have been a flaky drive or FW800 controller on a drive that I was pulling the data from, I'm trying to migrate from drobos and other FW800 drives to unRAID. Now that I've pulled all the data off that drive, I'm on to some other ones, and the data rates are much more consistant. I'll let you know if it happens again.
