Using a USB dock to get Unraid to check Spare HDD

Featured Replies

Slightly unusual

I have a 5 bay NAS and run 4 drives, 8TB, as Raid 5.

I could just try this but thought I'd ask first. I have no way of testing a spare drive I have. Can I use a USB dock and plug it into the USB port on my NAS and get Unraid to run a drive check or similar ? My Mac runs its Disk Utility on the drive but it only takes about 30 seconds so I cant believe it's checking much. It would be handy if Unraid could do this

It will depend on the USB bridge, but most should work.
