December 20, 201114 yr Hey guys, I've been enjoying my unRAID build for a while now. One of my drives (or maybe more but I think it's only 1) is clicking. What do you do at this point to identify which one it is? I tried to figure it out by reading this thread here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=3435.0 but sadly it went a little over my head. The suggestion consisted of "Post a syslog", "Run smartctl -H on each one", and "unMENU has the smartctl report built in too." Is there anyone who could give me somewhat clearer directions as a lot of my unRAID "skills" seem to have vanished and I can't even figure out how to get into unmenu or how to run smartctl at all. Or if there's a more up to date procedure of what to do, please let me know. K
December 20, 201114 yr I'll let those more experienced help with unRAID specific advice, but here is an old trick for locating the source of sounds: Put the tip of a screwdriver against the component and the handle in your ear. If it is the component making the sound it will be obvious. If not move on to another component.
