Cannot access server via shares, putty or address bar

Featured Replies

hi :)

i've been running the free unraid for a while now, and upgraded my old system to a hp microserver with a view to purchasing the plus version.

anyway i've been transferring my movies over from the old server to the new one which was taking an age, left it running last night with still around 900gb to go, i've got up this morning and the server is on and the network led is flashing still but its completely unresponsive.

i cannot access it via the web browser, putty or the shares.

i've tried powering down with a single press of the power button but still nothing.

what options do i have other than a long press on the power button to shut it down?

using v5.0-beta6 (i think :(), on a hp proliant microserver.

old server is running version: 4.5.6 and is operating normally.

i've attempted to get my syslog as per the thread above but as i can't access the server so i've been unsuccessful.

many thanks for your time.

try attaching a console. do you get a prompt?

is it possible the ipaddress of the server has changed?

by attaching the a console do you mean something different to using the console to log in via putty? sorry bit of a noob here.

i set it as a static ip when i set it all up so i would hope it won't have changed. as far as i know it hasn't rebooted so it should be the same.

many thanks for the reply

roger on the static ip

by attaching a console, i meant to physically connect a monitor

good luck,

ah right, i have it connected up to a monitor but its just a black screen.

if i hook up a usb keyboard thats also dead.

starting to think i'm going to have to pull the plug on it :'(

ouch.

is the linux syslog stored on the thumbdrive? if it is you might want to stick the thumb drive into another computer to get at the syslog to get some idea of what caused such a failure. location would be somthing like /var/log/syslog

alos, you might want to do the memtest option that is presented at unraid startup

good luck,

steve

i just looked. i dont think the syslog IS on the thumb drive. so i guess you have no diagnostics at this point. sorry for the misinformation.

i think it is on the thumb drive ??? i didn't want to pull it for fear of making things worse?

i suppose i'm going to have to pull the plug anyway so i've got nothing to lose, i'll take a look.

thanks again for the help.

i've still got everything on the old server so won't be losing much :'(

edit: wasn't on the flash drive as you said Steve, i've biten the bullet and pulled the plug on it now anyway.

going to upgrade to the latest version of the beta, should of done it a while back really.
