May 23, 20242 yr As the title says, I've been trying to improve my NAS write speeds, using a 2TB nvme pcie4 nvme over a 10Gb network. That said, I managed to eliminate all intermediary factors from the equation, by connecting directly to NAS from PC, but found the same behavior 1/2; speed writes, w/ full speed(1.1 GB/s), read speeds In addition to this, I tried; iperf3 = 9.98Gb/s File transfer to Promox VM = 9.93Gb/s read/write File transfer to Ubuntu bare metal server = 9.97Gb/s read/write Any ideas or suggestions? PS, did the usual MTU/Large frame, flow control, etc, etc, none appear to make a difference, best I can get is 5.1Gb/s transient, though mostly 5Gb/s on average PS2. I'm using SPF+ w/fiber optic Edited May 23, 20242 yr by JohnBee
May 23, 20242 yr unraid 10 GB connection is either being limited by the host itself settings for a guaranteed network and you would use the plugin tip and tweaks to edit rx / tx value to edit this The PC? I assume windows... Would also have setting in place to edit similar values. its the portocal and handshake at connection that dictates the speed. Similar to a usb connection to guarantee a read/write the systems will lower to safer known speed to guarantee the connection. I have only seen ftp use the full bandwidth and transfer at the higher speeds without editing other advance network settings. MYU/Flow control and jumbo frames are a big one in esscens you have an "ad-hoc" network setup. Witch has its own caviet on the connection made. In the end when hardware can but done't its due to software limitations. See linux kernel on tuning a 10GB card: https://www.kernel.org/doc/ols/2009/ols2009-pages-169-184.pdf
