Inability to create Win10 vm

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

So i searched as much as I could before I decided to give up and make a post, of which i dislike doing because I never know what's going to be asked of me and if I even know how to access such data, but alas I have given up trying to research it myself.

For the longest time I have been unable to make any Windows VM on Unraid but I was able to make Linux VMs easily. I come from minor beginner experience with Proxmox and never had an issue making windows vms on there. I was just recently (yesterday) able to get a windows xp vm up and running so I figured I would retry win10 and went through almost all of the options I can think of to try getting it to work; I've changed memory, cpus, i440fx vs q35, ovmf vs seabios, usb boot vs no usb boot, hyper-v on and off, usb 2 and 3, all the types of buses in all sorts of mixes between OS and VirtIO, tried changing vDisk bus too, tried changing the gpu from vnc to spice... nothing works for me, I do have a gpu in my server which is a dell poweredge 620, 2 intel xeon e5-2620 2.00 GHz cpus with 64GB ddr3 each with a radeon R5 M230 as a gpu.

As I am unsure what will be needed to help diagnose the issue here, Ill post whatever I can currently think of that might help.

The only thing I noticed is that in your XML for the VM the .iso that contains the os install files has Boot Order="2 "whereas I would initially expect it to be "1" with the vdisk being "2".
