Access to tower broken (Fixed/Solved)

Featured Replies

Has anyone experienced the following?

I no longer have access to my server via "tower" on web browser FireFox or IE. XXX.XXX.X.XXX works fine thru both web browser.

I am using WinXP and also no longer can see "tower" thru my network as well.

I tried rebooting server, laptop & router and no change. I have a feeling it is related to the laptop but have no idea where to start.

Thanks

can you access it in Windows Explorer (not IE) by going to \\x.x.x.x  ?

like \\IP address

does the server have a static IP? or DHCP?  does your router handle the DNS for your?

(Add on 12-23) It looks like I no longer can gain access thru putty which goes to a blank screen then crashes after 20 sec. I can however gain access thru FTP client.

See if you can get to the syslog via ftp.

Thanks for the response. I had a good idea that the problem was isolate to my notebook. Unfortunately I had an hard drive image of it on the server that I couldn't get to.

I did an F11 on start up of notebook to get back to factory level installation which I was again able to access unRAID server. From there I installed my backup/restore software thus gaining access to notebook image backup.

Took 2 hours but back to normal ops I hope.

Happy Holiday
