Occasional Missing Disk with Silicon Image 3132

Featured Replies

I'm a little stumped here and hoping someone can help troubleshoot. I just installed a new mobo (Supermicro X8SIL-F-O) and the single disk I have connected to a Silicon Image SIL3132 PCIe card showed up as missing. I tried reseating the card and changing the SATA cable to no avail. Once I moved the card to a different slot it started working again and I thought my problem was solved. Lo and behold, earlier this evening after a reboot it showed as missing again. I am getting ready to reseat it and see if I can get it working again but I am perplexed why this has been happening. It never happened on my previous motherboard (Biostar A760G M2+).

Can anyone think of a reason why this might be happening and/or, anything else I should be testing? My next step would be to try a new card but since that will take a few days to arrive I'm hoping someone has some other idea to test.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like you are not setup for using UnRaid if you only have one drive.

Not sure why you would use a separate controller card if you have onboard sata. But I would check your bios (including your separate controller card) to make sure any raid settings are 'off'.

Supermicro is a better board with more to configure.

Always back up your data (image and/or file replication on separate storage) before you make any changes within bios or raid config.

Hope this helps
