Graaulv Posted May 28 Posted May 28 I get this when I choose disklog information under my flash drive in the main window Does that mean that I have to change USB stick, and is it the reason that I can't create a certificate under /settings/managementaccess/ Quote
Frank1940 Posted May 28 Posted May 28 First thing I would do is to stop the array. Then shut the server down. Pull the Flash drive. Then plug it into your PC and run chkdsk on it. Report if chkdsk could correct the issue. Then look in the root of the flash drive for files named FILEXXXX.CHK (where XXXX are sequential numbers). 1 Quote

Firstly, thank for the speedy reply I will do that, once the parity check is done in about 4 hours I read somewhere that some of the best USB drives to use should be Samsung BAR Plus, is it still true ? itimpi Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Since that looks like a problem reading from the flash drive then the other thing it can sometimes be worth doing is rewriting all the bz* type files as described here in the online documentation accessible via the Manual link at the bottom of the Unraid GUI. In addition every forum page has a DOCS link at the top and a Documentation link at the bottom. Quote
Graaulv Posted May 28 Author Posted May 28 As suggested by Frank1940 I ran a chkdsk as admin on my winbox, and it has been repaired/restored I had to boot in as admin to make repairs so I jumped from Powershell to command prompt that I am more usaed to I can't seem to find any FILEXXXX.CHK HERE i'M SHOOTING FROM THE HIP Now I put the USB back, boot up the server and try to make a backup of the stick or ? do I make a separate stick, and copy anything but ? back to the "original" stick ? Okay now everything is up and running it seems It looks to me as now it is time to switch to one of the Samsung Bar sticks that have been suggested Do I buy the license first with the "faulty" stick and then transfer to the Samsung, or do I do it the other way around ? Frank1940 Posted May 29 Posted May 29 What is your current license status for this server-- None, Trial or Purchased?. Have your done a lot of configuring (which is stored in the /config folder of the current drive)? A bit of advice. Now that the server is working, go to MAIN tab if the GUI, left-click on the 'Flash' under 'Boot Device'. In the 'Flash Device Settings' section, click on the 'FLASH BACKUP' button. A backup of the flash drive is good insurance for a quick recovery from a lot of problems! 1 Quote

As of right now it is a trial, pending the Samsung Bar Stick I have been recommended arriving, it will be Purchased. I have made a backup of the drive I repaired at your advise Quote
Frank1940 Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Personally, I would wait for the arrive of the new flash drive. The reason being that you are only allowed one auto-transfer of your license in a 12 month period. See Here: https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/faq/licensing-faq/#what-happens-if-my-usb-fails-do-i-have-to-repurchase-a-license If you purchase your license for the old drive, you would use the privilege almost immediately! 1 Quote

My thoughts exactly, and sound advise. So I thank you for the help so far Quote
